These images have been faithfully restored from a host of analog video images (oh my, some readers may not even understand what a 8mm camera is or think beyond their ‘smartphone app’) taken by Paul E. Felt (Sr.).  Then, many a Family Home Evening, the children of Paul and Afton Felt would sit and enjoy these movies on a reel to real projector (I know, you don’t know what a ‘real to real’ project might even look like).  Yet, the Felt Children, did enjoy many happy hours watching over and over again.

Now you the reader can get a feel, view and impression of times past through the lens of your Ancestors

Harris Fishing

We knew them as Grandpa and Grandma Harris.  John Ernest and Ellen Harris of Provo, Ut.  Fishing was just more exciting with the Harris Fishing Method

Fir Circle Family Home

Fir Circle in Provo Utah was not necessarily the ONLY family home as Dad taught in the Church Education Department of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as a Seminary and Institute teacher up until his employment with the Brigham Young University in 1958.  As such, the family lived in Salt Lake City, Utah, Logan, Utah, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, Cedar City, Ut and then Provo in Utah (home of the BYU).

Christmas at the Felt Home

Oh Happy Day.  Christmas Day has arrived!  But, we are gathered around Mom and Dad bedroom waiting from Dad to be sure Santa Clause been and gone.  First clue?  Hot Chocolate all gone.  Second clue?  Cake gone.  Then, and only then, will Dad allow us the run downstairs and see all the ‘stuff’.

Love a Parade

The culture of the USA is in love with Parades.  From the Easter Parade, 4th of July, 24th of July and many other occasions, parade our precious.

The Felts at Play

There are 14 of us in the Paul and Afton Felt Family – some have moved on from Mortality to Eternal Life’s next stage yet we always love and play together; our fun is one another including the over 100 children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren of this dynamic legacy we call Out Family

Harris Clan 1950

The New Century of 1950 brought to the Harris Family a time of excitement and adventure as grandchildren were growing and now the ability to record such changes visually. For instance, the delight Strawberry Reservoir which John E Harris assisted in the construction. Notice the formal dress which was standard for the day.  Grandpa loved his garden as seen in these images.  You will notice the Harris dry farm that John and Ellen were so proud of.  And boy oh boy, what about the cars.  Now families could afford cars of all shapes and sizes.  Of note, is the staging of many of the images.  People would formally walk from inside to outside to be part of the filming.

Harris 50th Wedding Anniversary

Our home in Provo had been on 700 North – rather a large home with three levels and bedrooms galore – the Felt’s needed the bedrooms to store the clan of children!  Actually, the lower floor was a basement converted into apartments for students.  Nevertheless, the home had four good sized bedrooms – two on each level with bathrooms on each level as well. The home had builtin beds with shelves under the beds – thus, no mess and dust under beds.  Additionally, a 5th bedroom was built into the attic in to which Paul Jr. was moved.

We all wonder why but Paul Jr confirms he loved his own privacy

Grandma Felt-Images Kept In A Special Place

Harris 50th Wedding Anniversary

What fun we all had who were able to attend 50th Wedding Anniversary of John Ernest and Ellen Pitman Harris

Your Marriage Is Golden

A partnership like yours is rare;
50 years you’ve been together!
You’ve always been a loving team,
In sunny and stormy weather.

Nothing can tarnish your lasting love;
At 50 years, you’re gold.
Your affection shines as you go through the years,
With each other to love and to hold.

Temple Sq in the 1950s

In 1847, when Mormon pioneers arrived in the Salt Lake ValleyLDS Church president Brigham Young selected a plot of the desert ground and proclaimed, “Here we will build a temple to our God.”[4] When the city was surveyed, the block enclosing that location was designated for the temple, and became known as Temple Square. Temple Square is surrounded by a 15-foot wall that was built shortly after the block was so designated.

The square also became the headquarters of the LDS Church. Other buildings were built on the plot, including a tabernacle (prior to the one occupying Temple Square today) and Endowment House, both of which were later torn down. The Salt Lake Tabernacle, home of The Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square, was built in 1867 to accommodate the church’s general conferences, with a seating capacity of 8,000. Another church building, the Salt Lake Assembly Hall, was later built with a seating capacity of 2,000.

Wonderful memories of running down the hill of the Logan Temple. The town of Logan was founded in 1859 by settlers sent by Brigham Young to survey for the site of a fort near the banks of the Logan River (Wikipedia).

Family Days at Lagoon

Ernest W Felt (father of Paul Ernest Felt, Sr) was employed by the Deseret News Press thus an annual day at Lagoon was provided by the paper.  The Felt children loved this wonderful amusement park. A recently added showboat was added to the lake with other attractions as a multi-lane giant slide; mazes, mirrors, obstacle courses and mystery rooms; a large turntable which flung its riders off at great velocity etc.  So very much fun.  We love it!

LDS Mission Images of Steve Forsyth

The Church opened Java to missionary activity in 1970 and assigned missionaries to Jakarta, Bandung, and Bogor.[2] By year-end 1973, missionaries were serving in eight cities on Java: Bandung, Bogor, Jakarta, Malang, Semarang, Surabaya, Surakarta (Solo), and Yogyakarta.[3] The Church organized its first district in 1972 (Jakarta) and opened the Indonesia Jakarta Mission in 1975. Additional districts were organized in Surakarta (1977) and Surabaya (1978). Rapid membership growth occurred during the 1970s and 1980s as total church membership increased from less than 100 in 1970 to 770 in 1974[4] and 3,100 in 1985.

Problems obtaining foreign missionary visas resulted in the Indonesia Jakarta Mission undergoing several iterations of closing and reopening during the last quarter of the twentieth century. The mission closed in 1981, reopened in 1985, closed in 1989, and reopened in 1995. During the 1980s, the Church achieved considerable progress augmenting the size of the indigenous Indonesian full-time missionary force. The number of local members serving missions within Indonesia climbed from 24 in 1981 to 49 in 1987.[5]
